Dear XTensioneers,

You all have been so very patient, dealing with my “don’t have a clue” questions.
Your discussions of your own challenges have been perfect!

While we are not using XTension near to it’s potential, we are inching ever closer.

First, I have not found a way to call an automator calendar alarm applet from XTension. But that is okay. Because instead I learned to write the applescript applets needed and guess what: THAT WORKS!
Specifically, I was looking for a way to call a [java] shell script. Now I am calling the applescript applets which either “do shell script” or “do script”. (There is a difference for which I have to use, based on the version of the Amazon commander. We have the most recent version on two of the macs: with those “do shell script” works. We have an older version on the third Mac, but Amazon wants $50. to upgrade to the newer version. So we found that “do script” works on that machine. The most recent Hoorah! has been when I realized the reason the scripts were not effecting Wirecast reliably was due to, wait for it……………app nap! So the recent chatter about app nap caused me to suspect that as the problem. YES!

So thank you again, every one of you. Thank you for suggesting cool features such as pseudo units, thank you for suggesting use of “ignoring application responses”, thank you for your discussion about app nap.

We still have a LOT of streamlining and further automation to do, but right now, stuff is working. Even the shell scripts to upload video files to the Amazon server. YAY!!!!!!!

So much more learning to do!
Have a wonderfully successful day!
Dee Dee
