only slightly off ... topic.
As a courtesy for refurbing/reloading a Powerbook for a pastor friend, he is giving me a 1.6g G5 Power Mac to play with …
Its pretty much a strippo - starts up in 10.2 fine from the drive, but when I try to startup from a Leopard install disc,
it never seems to finish booting (30 min later still hear it seeking!)
Its only got 512meg so I did order 2 gigs of Ram to fix that problem …. & should have that for the weekend.
Its a beautifully laid out machine, lots of space and fans and such - but from what I read that G5 doesn't seem very well loved.
You folks have much more Mac background that I do - is this worthy machine to set up as a home server or something -
maybe to move Xtension and my iTunes library (350gig) to …?
