The fresnel lens definitely is biased in favor of side to side motion,
but also up/down is considered...look at one of the lenses next time
you can.
Some have found that mounting these upside down does seem to avoid
shorter animals.
But another thing is that you can mount tubes, or cardboard flaps
as blinders and shapers...
there once was a very long thread about this...
