My wife came with a cat :) and presented me with this challenge as well.

In some rooms I have the sensors elevated such that they can't see the
floor. In the kitchen, for instance, the sensor is on the fridge. This
works great unless the cat is misbehaving and jumps up on the fridge...

In other areas I've decided to leave the sensors near the floor where
they can see the cat. In these rooms I like the cat to set off the
motion sensor when we're away to give more of a random/lived-in look
to the house at night.
