You know, if I was a little more of a conspiracy theorist, I would
think I saw Steve Jobs' hand in all this. Time names the iTunes Music
Store the invention of the year, Apple gets top billing for the most
important product in Playboy, Forbes carries glowing reviews of the
iPod as a must-have toy, the Wall Street Journal talks about how
awesome the G5 is... all within a 3 week period. Some of these things
may be legitimate, as much as they can be. But I really smell a PR rat
in the case of Time and Playboy. Not that it isn't great for Apple, but
the sudden media love-fest after years and years of Apple-bashing
("Apple's going out of business", "Apple only has 2% market share",
blah blah) is just too coincidental with the iTunes/Music
Store/G5/Panther pre-Christmas marketing blitz. That, or some little
copy editor punk at Playboy used a Mac to make the final edits...
