Have you tried KeepItUp? I think it's available on the goodies page of the
shed site. It's a little app that controls the startup of applications,
and if they crash (not the system, just themselves) it'll try to restart
them, and if it can't, it'll reboot the computer. It also will move an
application to the font if it is not in front. It's quite stable and well
worth the $10? shareware fee.
