As we all know the Situationist had left leaning libertarian tendencies. They also, as we know, emerged influenced by Socialisme ou Barbarie a libertarian socialist group, as well as by Marx's materialist philosophies as well by other philosophical zeitgeist that was floating about the day as part of the community and their community of intelligentsia. Mix all this with the arts, such as dada , surrealism, lettrism, abstraction, fluxus like events, interventionist pranks, and more— and we see in a nut shell, what it is to grasp the the S.I..

What we inherit from the Situationist and other individuals with similar critical skills is to analyze the current state of affairs. Of course, today, we still have all of these influences and we obviously have the same thinking tools and more…yet there is growing movement to stifle the publics ability to critique itself….it is emulating from the extreme right wing minority of society that has twisted and contrived a perverted version of what used to be a most interesting and good Libertarian or anarchistic cause. Today more than ever we see the right wing libertarian drive shifted away from the self realization of freedom for the group or community and self to the self-realization of selfish corporate power personified in a solo rather than an egalitarian drive for equality.

Some people rant on about a persecution complexes. And yes there are efforts to fund persecution…especially from the the right side of a corrupted libertarianism. Instead of corrupted we might use the word high jacked. High jacked is also a good term for those who commit terrorist acts in the name of religions [today high-jacking of Islam is a good example] Yet today the high-jacking of the left is promoted and funded by the right—and its another version of terrorism, especially when it becomes legal eco-terrorism. [I think even sites like this site are the occasional target of the right wing influence…I have see posters come and go…]

The emergence of the Tea Party is one such entity whose growth has been funded by the "Right". To be fair, I think the Tea Party meant well, at its beginning, for it was mass unemploynment that all of a sudden gave many here in the US time to actually think about their new situations in an imploding economy. But since its beginnings the possibilities of its new mad crew, to make positive progress, these people who are mostly first time activist were easily steerable since the new political awareness that most of these people gained was untutored and high-jacked quickly by the right while a lazy left twiddled its thumbs. Simply put, the angry mob got funded by the right wing libertarian cause. They were given bus rides to protest and crayons and paper to make pretty ugly angry signs with. Woo hoo!!!

The ruse was to convince a desperate angry lot that they are fighting in a grass roots insurgency—yet the only thing grass roots about their causes has become rooted in a so called "Astro-turf" cause; an ersatz cause, ironically, for higher "inequality"….better know as a corporate ruse. Instead of being rooted in grass or in a horizontal like fashion like the old timer workers partiers envisioned this group fights a make believe war against Islam and fights a make believe war against neo-socialism. All of which is grounded in artificially sown simulacrumized grass that no longer exhales oxygen. Hence it has come down to a top down movement funded by those who have much to gain or protect—the new aristocracy is masquerading as pop neo-libertine.

One of these funders has come to light recently and they are the Koch brothers. These two die hard self professed libertarians have generously funded many Tea Party organizations as well as many right wing causes whose business is countering Global warming science to fighting environmental regultions to you name it—their cause is especially the cause that is most profitable when considered free of government regulation—for the sake of no government sake—and end in its self.

Read the following link and look for others like it.   Much of this is relatively new news and hopefully it will highlight the growing gap between rich and poor or highlight the growing gap between conniving and gullible that erases green pastures between us all..

"David Koch founded the group Americans for Prosperity Foundation, which has been linked to the Tea Party — training hundreds of activists in Texas and hosting talking points for Tea Party activists on its website."

More right wing libertarian shenanigans.
