Richard
I had a survivalist american booklet once called C5. It showed you how to bore out the twist in a damascus barrel made out of beaten wire, using a drift and a mallet.    They were Kentucky rifles of legend.
I bet you have a tinder box on a belt "fire makings" All Kentucky men do. I have one but not on a belt. I use burnt cotton as a starter and a proper flint not one of those striker things. I made mine out of a broken file, hammered the tang over so you get a finger grip. The whole lot fits in a tobacco tin.
Sorry ladies

The Davy Crocket thing or Daniel Boone woodsyness came from growing up in rural Kentucky. I carry that over from city to city...something to do with playing in forest that makes one see behind trees, or buildings, or posers posturing as totems.

instead of antique you could call it retro and then it would be about style rather than content. Content is nothing anyway compared to the meehjum. The meehjum is the message. McLuhan.
I go back to the Big Bang. No even before that. Im just background radiation. Strontium Dog.

Life is a comedy to a man who thinks, and a tragedy to a man who feels. Wordsworth.

Dear Jean,

My Postmodern version of this would be: "feeling's tragics and logic's laughables pinball off the walls of the genderless self." Separating selflets into separate persons is an old view of personhood, don't you agree? And of course limiting people to purely male or female is a purely antique vision.

Best,

Diana
