Yeah me too. At the time I recall that Mishima and his associates wanted a return to traditional values. I perceived this as a right wing stance at the time. Im not sure that translates helpfully in Japan. The suicide pact between several was well publicised.
I think I found the complicity disturbing. There was an exhibitionist, gay angle too which made the whole thing into a glossy cover. For some reason I always think of this historical scenario in black and white.
