Kids on the Hill: TV Dinner THAWED OUT!
Wednesday, December 19 at 7pm @ 2640
2640 St. Paul Street (2640 Space)
This year's annual Kids on the Hill TV Dinner and Fundraiser. Eager to
serve up their thought provoking fare to a hungry audience, the Kids
invite you out for a night of provocative, at times goofy, and positively
engaging youth media!
$10 for adults and free for youth
The night's menu includes films about the pressures kids face to join
gangs, the fine line between flirting and sexual harassment, and a
face-off between Team Chittlin's and Broccoli. Laughter that nourishes
the spirit and mind, media-savvy teens and food for thought will be in
full supply.
The screening benefits the Civil Rights Trip, a sojourn for youth
leaders from Baltimore City. This six day road trip includes meetings
with civil rights leaders and visits to Atlanta, Birmingham, Memphis,
Montgomery, Selma and Little Rock to engage and educate young people
about civil rights and social change history first-hand. Youth leaders
journal throughout the trip, and video tape their experiences to
engage other young people on the trip and upon their return to
Baltimore.
The event is co-sponsored by the Indypendent Reader and Kids on
the Hill. Kids on the Hill (KOH) is an art and media organization
committed to social justice and equality. KOH offers youth from
throughout the city the opportunity to explore their voices as
community artists in projects as varied as video animations,
claymations and documentaries; beautification efforts; and
collaborations with other activist, youth-serving organizations.
