How do you feel about applying various effects to headline or title type? I'm thinking of bevel, emboss, neon glow, chrome effect, or textures? I have done that on only one or two projects, and one of those two was just for a sample design that I vetoed myself (vacated on other grounds, as the lawyers say).

The only effect I routinely use is soft-edged drop shadows. I still mainly think of type as a theoretically flat thing.
