[Graphics] Accessing Quark 6.5 on a different drive in same G4

All:

QuarkXPress 6.5 is installed on the original internal drive on my 450
MHz PowerPC G4 running OSX 10.3.2 (Panther). I installed an additional
internal drive and it is running OSX 10.4.11 (Tiger).

I have reason sometimes to want to boot up using the drive running
Tiger and work on a Quark file that lives, along with the application,
on the original Panther drive. I can, of course, see the contents of
both drives no matter which I boot from, but I can't open and save a
Quark file on the Panther drive if I am booted from the Tiger drive.

What happens is that when I try to do this, a message window appears
saying that the file "Xerces-c-cw8" is missing and should be installed
on the Tiger drive from the Quark install disk. I made a copy of this
file and put it in the corresponding place on the Tiger drive. Doing
that allows me to open and work on a Quark file from the Tiger drive on
the Panther drive BUT I can't save the Quark document because another
"file" is missing and I would have to (re)install it, too. At that
point I backed out, fearful that I might do something that could be
harmful.

Does anyone have comments about this. My thought is that if I have
Quark on one drive, I shouldn't necessarily need to install the
application on the other drive to work from that other drive.

Thank you.
