As someone who has worked both with oil paints and with color reproduction, I know that MOST pure natural pigments can't really be reproduced with CMYK or with RBG (though RGB does have a much wider gamut that CMYK).

CMYK only really has three colors that it reproduces relatively well -- Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. The rest are all grayed-out pale versions of what you would find in the real world -- and that is not even taking into account the mysteries of metamerism.
