Thank you for that link. I heard the term called "light traps,"
referring to exaggerating the inside of sharp angles to counteract ink
spread. BTW, I was in a hobby shop a few years ago and noticed a brand
of plastic models of soldiers and equipment, a Eurpoean manufacturer
(German, I think, perhaps Danish--can't remember the name) that used
Bell Centennial at enormous sizes (60, 72, 144 points, big!), and
those notches were extremely prominent. It worked for that product!

Your mention of megastructures reminded me of Paolo Soleri's
Arcosanti. I'm not exactly sure how it would fit.
