I haven't used Goudy O.S. in quite a long while. I've decided to do a
big book using it, but when I printed out the first proofs to a 1200
dpi laserprinter, the body text (10/13) looks quite light, almost as
if it's half a weight lighter.

I went to the font manager (Linotype Font Xplorer, a very good tool)
and checked out all the versions of Goudy I have, and they all seem
to be the same weight.

I remember the first book I did back in 1990, direct to film. I set
it in Century Old Style and when I saw the printed piece (and the
blues,too, come to think of it), I had the same reaction. Wow! It's
lighter than I expected. No Laserprinter dot gain, or for that
matter, actual ink-on-paper spread.

Anyone else notice this?

I'm thinking of upscaling the font to 10.5/13, but then it'll cause a
whole lot of changes the line breaks (but thankfully, the layout is
FL/RR, so the number of changes won't the as great as with justified
type, and the number of actual new lines on a page will be fewer still).
