Tufte lectured at UNC back in the mid-90s, shortly after his second
book was released. It wasn't a workshop, but it was a memorable
presentation (about 1 1/2-2+ hours, with Q&A and all).

Then, within a year or so, I attended a UCDA conference in St. Louis
and one of the presentations was by Nigel Holmes, the Time Mag guru of
infographics.

What a contrast.
