"Can you blow that up?"

You know the scene that's almost de rigeur in those nifty action movies
or cop shows when the hero turn to the techie who's trying to clean up
the low-res surveillance camera images or the tourist's digital camera
snapshot, and says, "I see a logo on his jacket. Can you blow up that
up?" And the guy zooms in, tap tap tap, mumbles something about "trying
a different algorithm to clean up the low freqeuncy noise," and -- ta
da! -- they can see the company emblem on his jacket and even determine
the size of killer's shoes!

Do you think this kind of fudging in the movies metamorphoses in the
clients' understanding and leads them to assume that you can take their
72 dpi gif and, by using Photoshop or Indesign or something else neat,
you can print the gif on a poster about 15" x 20"?
